THE BEAR MAN

“If you don’t run into the devil from time to time you may question whether or not you’re running in the same direction.”

James H. VanSteenhouse, a Michigan farm boy and graduate of Michigan State University made Houston, Texas his home in 1993 with the acceptance of an entry-level position in a mortgage banking firm. Jim quickly took to the mortgage industry and is now the owner of InterLinc Mortgage Services, one of country’s top 100 mortgage employers.

Jim’s rural upbringing brought with it a love of hunting. Since those early days of hunting on the Michigan countryside, Jim has replaced his rifle with a bow and has hunted throughout the U.S., Africa, Canada, and New Zealand.

Jim returned from the Northwest Territory of Canada in 2015, in search of moose. That trip did not turn out quite the way Jim envisioned. On the 4th morning of the hunt, he was viciously attacked by a grizzly bear. This is Jim’s story of survival and how the Lord intervened saving his life.
